More information on each type of insulation is provided under the services page. We will get into each type of insulation in detail and explore the benefits of each type of insulation and how insulation is rated using R-Values (resistance value).

Saving Energy = Saving Earth

Energy efficiency is important not only for the occupants of a building or home but also for the environment. Costs of energy are increasing every year, along with the pollution we create by overusing energy which is damaging to trees.  A poorly insulated home or building will not only cost more for the owner but will also contribute to pollution and draining the earth's resources. Buildings and homes should be properly insulated from the roof down to their foundations. By achieving optimal energy efficiency, everyone benefits.
Here is more on the topic Energy from the government of Canada.

Our-values = R-values

The new Ontario building code requires R-60 resistance value for attics

What are R-Values? R-Value is short for resistance value
Insulation is measured and rated using R-values. The greater the R-value, the better the insulation. Insulating materials have different R-values indicating how well they can prevent heat or cold from leaving or entering your home. R-value is measured in per inch thickness of insulating material. R-values differ depending on the material and density. R-values are typically listed on the package or the insulation itself. R-values are not given to other materials such as radiant barriers and vapour barriers which are often used along with insulation. You should also consider your geographical location. For example, someone who lives in California does not require the same R-value as someone who lives in the great north. Adding new layers of insulation on top of existing insulation can also boost the overall R-Value. For example, if an attic has existing fibreglass installed, the R-value can be increased by adding blown-in cellulose on top. When both insulations are used together, they will provide better thermal performance.

Insulation Type:                 Resistance-value
                                               per inch:
Fiberglass (loose)               2.2 – 2.9

Fiberglass (batts)               2.9 – 3.8
Cellulose (loose)                 3.1 – 3.8
Stone Wool (loose)             2.2 – 3.3
Stone Wool (batts)             3.3 – 4.2
Cotton (batts)                      3.0 – 3.7
Cementitious (foam)         2.0 – 3.9
Polyicynene (foam)            3.6 – 4.3
Phenolic (foam)                  4.4 – 8.2
Polyisocyanurate (foam)   5.6 – 8.0
Polyurethane (foam)          5.6 – 8.0

The higher the R-Value, the more thermal insulation power.
The R-values also differ depending on the manufacturer and brand.
