If your insulation is older than 14 years old, it's a good time to get an inspection done to see what needs to be replaced and what could use an upgrade.
Why is my AC/Furnace running all the time?
That is a sign of air infiltration, cold air in the winter and warm air in the summer is penetrating your home and overworking your AC/Furnace. Another sign that an inspection needs to be done and that there are flaws in the existing insulation.
Why are some pipes frozen?

What are R-Values?
R-Value, short for resistance value, describes how well insulation can resist heat flow. In general, higher R-Values mean better insulation against heat transfer.
An insulation's R-value depends on its thickness, so thicker insulation will resist heat transfer more effectively.
